Ifediora is a respected policy economist, adviser and consultant to governments and agencies with a professional career that started in 1985 as an Economist with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, DC. He was the Executive Director and CEO at African Heritage Institution- an economic think tank and has served in different capacities including senior special Assistant to the president on National Development Matters in the office of the vice president, Abuja. He was the investment policy Adviser for the UK Department DFID) funded programme, Growth and Employment in States (GEMS3), and was managing consultant/ Executive Director of Skoup and Company Limited, an economic consulting firm in Enugu.
Dr. Amobi was also an Economist at the World Bank in Washington, DC and spent the next twelve (12) years as a Manager at Citibank Nigeria and strategy Manager at Accenture in Lagos. He led and coordinated the nation-wide data collection team for the world bank doing business in Nigeria, 2014. He was a member of Nigeria’s Vision 2020 National Steering Committee. He ia a member of the joint Planning Committee of the Nigerian Economic Summit, Nigeria Economic Society. South East Nigeria Economic Commission and the American Economic association. He is currently a part-time lecturer at the ESUT Business School in Enugu.
He attended Denis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, and holds a BSc. in Economics from Nsukka. Wesleyan University, M.A. in Economics from Clemson University, and obtained a Ph.D in Economics from Howard University, Washington, DC, USA in 1992.
